All-Star Break

July 10th, 2028: We're back up to 1st in the Power Rankings! With the All-Star game tomorrow, the MLB has no action for the first time since April 1st.

July 11th, 2028: The All-Star game took place between Atlanta's Ken Harty (6-3, 3.64 ERA, 1.09 WHIP), who filled in for Devon Peterson, and Yankee Ace Mitch Hart (8-2, 3.46 ERA, 1.23 WHIP). Jarred Kelenic hit leadoff and played right and former Marlin Thomas Dillar caught and hit 8th. Both teams are rlatively even, although the AL boasts four 5* hitters (Luke Leto, Lodovico Liatti, Janisel Rivera, and Hueston Morrill) compared to the NL's two (Treyjn Fletcher and Xavier Carter). It was a close one, but the AL managed to edged the NL 3-2.

Ignacio Hinojos pitched the third, allowing a hit and he struck out 2. Jake Florence got the loss, allowing 2 runs, a hit, and 2 walks, in 0.2 innings. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-2 with an RBI double. Chris Reid came off the bench and played second. He was 0-for-2. Peterson, of course, didn't pitch.

A's LF Stephon Canada was named MVP, going 2-for-2 with a solo homer and 2 runs scored.

July 12th, 2028: With an off day, I decided to play around with some trades. I'd need to make room for Trevor Gott, who was out on rehab, so I went to shop relievers. Instead of clearing roster spots, I decided to make an upgrade, sending LHP Danny Niewald to the Indians for LHP Jamie Priest.

Priest, 28, is rated a 3.5* with excellent stuff, 100 stamina, and he hits 94-96 with his fastball. A two pitch reliever, he boasts an 84 rated fastball and 88 curve. A former 8th Rounder by the White Sox, Priest has a career 3.42 ERA and 1.28 WHIP in 202.2 innings with 219 strikeouts and 77 saves. He's 3-4 wiht 18 saves, a 4.20 ERA, and 1.67 WHIP this year, but it's much better then Niewald.

Gott has just 4 days left on rehab, so I'll eventually have to deal with that issue...

July 13th, 2028: I solved my roster crunch with a 5 player trade, sending LHP Sanshiro Onuma and 2B Kymani Webbs to the Tigers for RHP Ayden Hardemon, 2B Corrado Soto, and 2B Rodolfo Castro.

Hardemon, 23, is the prize, a 2.5/5* reliever, who although fragile, is extremely valuable. He's got options left and will head to AAA. He tossed just 0.2 big league innings with the Tigers, getting a strikeout and allowing 2 runs and a hit. The former 5th Round Pick has elite stuff, top stamina, and plus-plus mmovement with the ability to keep the ball on the ground. He hits 94-96 with a sinker, and throws a devestating slider.

Soto, 25, is a 1.5* potential switch hitter who can play second, short, left, center, and right. A speedy base stealer, Soto rareley strikes out and has a good eye. He also rarley hits the ball off the ground, but he can beat out most infield grounders. He'll head to AA Jacksonville.

Castro, 23, will head to Greensboro. Another 1.5*, he can play all three infield spots and has elite speed of his own. He strikes out even less then Soto and has a little pop. He has a plus contact tool and a plus eye, but isn't the best defender.

Gott will head back to the majors, and the roster is ready for the second half! We start that half in Philadelphia, where we'll play three with the third place Phillies. We'd see Dursan Erbakan (6-5, 4.01 ERA), the recently acquired Cullen Dana (6-2, 2.69 ERA), and Chad Afghani (7-6, 4.27 ERA), although these are subject to change.
