July 24th 1899 Update
The hopes for another title are fading fast for the Washington Senators. Only 5-12 in July so far. First place Spiders are very hot since June 1st, going 29-12 during that span.
Pittsburgh and Chicago are battling back and forth for the NL title. Both teams are off to a hot start in July.

July has been a terrible month for the Senators. Christy Mathewson (12-9, 3.38) had a personal 6 game losing streak broken. John Clarkson (15-10, 3.00) is riding a 4 game losing streak.
The only bright spot is Ed Delahanty's hitting, he leads the AL with his .429 BA. Mike Tiernan continues his year long slum and was benched for recent pick of Dusty Miller. Miller was traded
from Brooklyn for Guy McFadden and Dave Foutz
