September 29th-October 2nd
September 29th, 2028: Palban Gamboa his headed to the major league club after being activated from the DL.
We opened the series in Philadelphia against the likely 2nd Wild Card team. Steve Paustian (15-6, 3.61 ERA, 1.29 WHIP) got the ball against Chad Afghani (13-8, 3.92 ERA, 1.24 WHIP). We got three in the 8th and gave back 2 in the 9th, but we ended up on top 5-3.
Juan Ramirez left with back tightness, and I'd bench him for the rest of the regular season.
Paustian went 7 innings with 4 hits, a run, and 8 strikeouts. Ignacio Hinojos allowed a walk and two run homer to the two batters he faced. Chad Scoles got the save, walking 1 and striking out 2.
Juan Ramirez, was 2-for-3 with a homer, 2 runs, 2 RBI's, and a hit by pitch. Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Eric Kisela had a pinch hit double in the 8th. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-3 with a walk and solo homer. Chris Reid was 1-for-4 with a hit by pitch and run scored.
Braves CF Manuell Marinho's hit streak was ended by the Cardinals at 20 games.
September 30th, 2028: The Minnesota Twins have clinched the AL Central. At 89-71, they have a 4 game lead over the Tigers who are fighting for a playoff spot. This will be thier 7th straight posteason appearence, the most consecutive current streak in the AL (second to yours truly in the majors).
The Texas Rangers have also clinched a spot. At 89-71, they are 1 game behind the Marienrs for first, but will at least be a Wild Card. They haven't made it since 2024.
The Phillies have also clinched a playoff spot. At 92-68, they will make the postseason for the second straight year.
The St. Louis Cardinals will also make the playoffs. At 93-66 and 2.5 back, It's there first postseason appearence since 2015.
The Padres fired manager Dave Martinez after seven teams with the teams. He was 61-99 this year, and has a career 856-924 record.
We looked to win our 100th of the season with Devon Peterson (12-9, 3.55 ERA, 1.31 WHIP) taking on Jim Gilbert (12-6, 3.33 ERA, 1.06 WHIP). It was a close one, but we topped them 4-3.
And that's win 100!
Peterson went 7.2 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs, and 3 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra got a hold and allowed a hit and run in 0.1 innings. Chad Scoles got the save, an inning with a strikeout.
Noah Smith was 3-for-5 with 2 runs, a double, and 2 steals. Ian Happ was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI. Juan Simental was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Jarred Kelenic went 2-for-5 with a steal. Isaac Nunez was 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Mac Horvath was 1-for-3 with a walk, steal, and RBI.
Red Sox 3B Garrett Blaylock was 5-for-5 in a 14-9 win over the Indians.
October 1st, 2028: More postseason news: The Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays are both headed to the playoffs. At 87-74, they are tied for first with a game left in the regular season.
The Detroit Tigers aren't as lucky, and their 85-76 record isn't enough to make the postseason. They've been to the playoffs jsut once (2025) since 2015.
The Reds clinched the NL at 97-64. They have a 2.5 game lead over St. Louis.
The Dodgers (85-76) have been eliminated from the postseason and the Giants (87-74) have clinched the West. It's their first playoff appearence since 2016.
Game 162 took place between C.J. Jorgensen (0-0, 4.15 ERA, 1.15 WHIP) and Cullen Dana (12-4, 2.86 ERA). It wasn't even close, and they crushed us 11-2.
Well, 100-62 is pretty, pretty solid if I do say so myself.
See Mr. Kurchna (Miami Owner), this is what happens when you don't force me to slash my payroll!
Jorgensen tossed 4.2 innings with 5 hits, 4 runs (1 earned), a walk, and 2 strikeouts. Riley Ferrell allowed 2 runs off 2 hits in 0.2 innings. Luis Alcantra went 0.1 innings with a hit, a run, and strikeout. Joe Kramer went 0.1 innings with 5 hits, 4 runs, and a walk in an elite outing...
For someone so talented, he's really sucked int he Majors (17 runs in 16.2 innings in parts of 3 seasons).
Isaac Nunez was 2-for-5 with a double, RBI, and steal. Ian Happ was 1-for-2 with 2 walks. Jorgensen was 1-for-2 with an RBI. Roberto Pena was 1-for-5 with a run scored and steal. Jarred Kelenic was 1-for-3 with 2 walks and a run scored.
Off to the postseason (almost)!
October 2nd, 2028: Jordan Montgomery is back on the active roster, a day after the season ended.
We ended the season as the 2nd Ranked team in the Power Rankings. Our 100-62 record is just 3 games better then the impressive Reds.
Leonel Olvera was named American Confrence Pitcher of the Year. At 12-1, he had a 2.80 ERA and 100 strikeouts in 115.2 innings. He had 8 first place votes and 88 total points.
The Red Sox (88-74) and Mariners (91-71) won their respective divisions with the Rays (87-75) and Rangers (90-72) finishing as the Wild Cards. The post season is officially set as well.
