January 1st, 2029: Happy New Year! The Cardinals acquired CL Wilmer Torres from the Padres for RHP Dane Bradshaw, RHP Juan Salgado, and 2B Phil Mousseau. It's a steal for the Cardinals.

January 2nd, 2029: The Indians acquired RF Micer Adolfo and RHP Kevin Green from the Padres for RHP Juan Miranda and LF Chris Mazurek. It's a fair enough trade.

January 3rd, 2029: The Colorado Rockies signed former Atlanta Brave Ty Madden to a 4-year, $68.4 million contract. He has a 64-53 record with a 3.92 ERA and 1.29 WHIP with 785 strikeouts in 1,020 innings.

January 5th, 2029: The Astros signed RHP Nick Goody to a 3-year, $9 million per year contract with the final year a 40 games finished vesting option. He tossed 786 innings and worked a 4.08 ERA and 1.20 WHIP with 139 saves and 1,127 strikeouts. He played for the Yankees, Indians, Royals, Red Sox, Mets, and Cardinals.

January 8th, 2029: After 13+ seasons with the Dodgers, Corey Seager is headed to the other side of the rivalry. The 34-year-old signed a 3-year, $12.6 million per year deal with the Giants. The last season is a 550 plate appearence vesting option. Last season was the first in his career where he didn't reach 550 plate appearences, but he also started just half the games he appeared in. He has a career .311/.381/.529 batting line with 356 homers and 1,198 RBI's in 1,962 career games.

The Giants acquired RHP Drew Smith, RHP Joe Burch, and cash considerations from the Braves for RHP Ben Alford and 2B Jarrod Hardin. It's a mega salary dump, and the Giants really got the good end.
