Historical league injury prone bug?, every pitcher is fragile or wrecked
I've got a pretty big problem here and I'm wondering if somebody has any ideas on what I should do about it.
I started a standard historical league in 1987 and am now in the 1988 season, setting it the same as I've done dozens of time over the years. The problem is on the player status screen every pitcher in the league is either fragile or wrecked. In contrast, almost every hitter is either iron man or durable, with a small percentage are normal. I'm in commissioner mode so I can check the ratings of all players.
It turns out that for the injury proneness ratings (1-200 scale), every pitcher in the league was assigned a rating of 160 for (a) overall proneness, (b) back proneness, and (c) arm proneness (sometimes a little higher, like 168). The ratings for leg proneness seem to have imported properly, they all vary. For batters, instead of the 160 rating in those categories, they all have a rating of 1 and the leg proneness rating varies. These same injury proneness ratings were assigned to every player down to the youngsters in the rookie leagues.
My league settings for injuries are set at low. On the "under the knife" report, with just a handful of exceptions, every player listed is a pitcher and most of them are out 4-12 months.
So obviously something went very wrong when the league was created or when the players were imported. I'm assuming it's not a universal "bug" that affects everybody since I'm sure it would have been reported and fixed by now. I really have no idea how this could have happened.
I sim very slowly through the seasons and have put in enough time that abandoning the league and starting over is out of the question. Editing ratings is not really an option, I don't have the time for such a task.
It's looking like my only option is to go to settings/functions and reset all injuries & DL status and then turn off injuries. Before doing that, maybe I could try setting injuries to extremely low, although even then it would only be pitchers getting injured. Maybe I could set suspension frequency to very high so at least some players would be forced to miss time (I think that's random). I don't know if there anything that could be done with the injuries.txt file that would limit the problem.
So am I screwed or does anybody have other ideas or work arounds? I have the feeling I'll end up moving this to thebug report forum grrrrrrr.
