Awards, Arbitration, and Pre-Free Agency
October 28th, 2029: The offseason officially begins today, and a few changes in the minor leagues were made.
New York N (DSL) Mets 2 will move from the Mets to the Doves organization and will be re-named the Boston N (DSL) Doves.
The Boston (DSL) Reds Sox will be known as the Boston A (DSL) Red Sox and the Boston (DSL) Red Sox 2 will move to the Seattle Pilots organization and will become the Seattle N (DSL) Pilots
The Seattle (DSL) Mariners will be known as the Seattle A (DSL) Mariners.
The Arizona (DSL) Diamondbacks 2 will move to the Washington Senators organizatoin and will be known as the Washington A (DSL) Seantors.
The Washington (DSL) Nationals will become the Washington N (DSL) Nationals.
The Texas (DSL) Rangers 2 will move to the Montreal Expos organization and become the Montreal (DSL) Expos.
Back to the Marlins, Chad Scoles decided he will not opt-out, and will now be under contract until at least 2031 with a team option for 2032.
Here's my arbitration guys:
SP Dursun Erbakan (1-year, $6,700,000)
RP Luis Alcantra (1-year, $3,400,000)
RP Steve Hudson (1-year, $3,940,000)
RP C.J. LaFever (1-year, $1,730,000)
RP Jamie Priest (1-year, $3,020,000)
2B Jon Reid (1-year, $2,340,000)
2B Noah Smith (1-year, $9,940,000)
LF Daylen Lile would not sign an extension, and will head to an arbitration hearing.
I extended qualifying offers to Josh Brown, Gene Hall, Ignacio Hinojos, Jarred Kelenic, Isaac Nunez, and Chris Reid.
October 31st, 2029: I didn't want to have to deal with Daylen Lile's arbitration hearing or fragility, so I sent him and Jake Yaerick to the Rays for RF Ernie Frye.
"Dynamo" is an absolute stud hitter with elite contact, gap power, and avoid strikeout ability. He doesn't have much power but has a plus-plus eye, and is extremely fast on the bases. He's not the best fielder, but he has an actual cannon of an arm. Frye hit .347/.424/.490 with 9 homers, 70 RBI's, and 27 steals this year, and has a .335/.404/.469 career line in 3 seasons with Tampa.
Frye is entering his first year of arbitration, and wants $7,470,000, which is much less then what Lile was demanding, and I have three years of Frye as opposed to 1 of Lile. Frye will replace Kelenic, and the Ramirez-Simental-Frye outfield will be by far the best in the league.
November 2nd, 2029: The Cubs acquired RHP Josh Keller from the Athletics for minor leauge RHP's Danny Dempsey and Amari Elvine. It's an even deal.
November 6th, 2029: Alex Moncreif (SEA: 24, 146) and Chad Scoles (MIA: 22, 140) were named Reliever of the Year winners. Scoles was great all season, 7-3 with a 2.22 ERA and 42 saves.
November 7th, 2029: Juan Ramirez was named Platinum Stick Winner for left field, the first of his career.
November 8th, 2029: 2B Kurt Metzger (SEA: 24, 150) and RF Dan Comer (STL: 34, 170) were named Rookie of the Year.
November 9th, 2029: Seattle Manager Jose Zapata and Dodgers Manager Bill Risley were named Manager of the Year.
November 10th, 2029: SP Jeremy Hynek (MIN: 34, 238) and SP Jorge Flores (CHC: 21, 199) were named Cy Young Winners. Chad Scoles (9), Pat Saitta (8), and Josh Brown (1) got a couple pitty votes.
November 11th, 2029: SS Logan Davidson (BAL: 34, 476) and 1B Xavier Carter (PHI: 25, 417) were named MVP. Juan Ramirez (250) definitely deserved to win if he was healthy. Scoles (5) and Saitta (1) got some votes for some reason.
November 15th, 2029: The Cubs acquired LHP Nathaniel Heredia and 1B Luis Colunga from the Senators for C Jorge Pabon. It's even enough.
November 19th, 2029: Some shocking news, as both Jarred Kelenic and Ignacio Hinojos accepted their qualifying offers. Nunez, Brown, Hall, and Reid filed for Free Agency. I'm not too shocked on Hinojos, but I can't belive Kelenic took the offer. I'm placing him on the block, and will hopefully be able to move him, because I can't have Frye on the bench.
Alternateively, I could move Kelenic to first, but we'll cross that bridge when it comes...
Free Agency starts tomorrow!
