Free Agency Pt. 2
January 3rd, 2030: The Astros brought back a familiar face in SS Carlos Correa. He signed a 3-year, $66 million deal with a 135 game vesting option in the final year. It's a return to Houston where he spent 2015-2022 in the majors with them. Combined with his time in San Diego and Chicago, he has a .298/.369/.516 line with 393 homers and 1,328 RBI's.
The San Diego Padres acquired LF Juan Gadea from the Pirates for RHP Ryan Wimbush and RHP Tim Sharp. I like this deal for the Pirates.
January 4th, 2030: The Boston Doves signed 2B Travis Odom to a 3-year, $28.7 million deal. A long National, they traded him to the Reds at the deadline in 2029. He h as a .245/.322/.362 line in 564 games.
January 7th, 2030: I claimed former 1st Round Pick LF/P Ken Adeniran off waivers from the Cubs. He'll be added to the active roster, and will be used primarily as a pitcher.
January 9th, 2030: The Hall of Fame class was announced, with first timer Clayton Kershaw (96.1) and second timer Joey Botto (83.7) joining the prestigious group of baseball's finest. Ryan Braun (73.9), Robinson Cano (73.5), Max Scherzer (70.3), and Justin Veralnder (68.6) are all in striking distance.
January 10th, 2030: The Braves signed SS Luis Victoriano Garcia to a 2-year, $8.2 million per year deal. The 29-year-old has a career .260/.329/.404 line with 90 homers, 359 RBI's, and 207 steals.
January 11th, 2030: The longtime Tiger Michael Fulmer joined the Boston Doves. He'll make $13.6 million this year, and if he reached 180 innings, that same amount next year. In 434 career starts, he's 121-149 with a 4.58 ERA and 1.31 WHIP with 1,5454 strikeouts and 498 walks in 2,331 innings.
The Oakland Athletics sent RHP Dave Stoterau to the Seattle Mariners for LHP Steve Stratemeyer and LF Mike El-Amin. It's a great deal for the defending champs.
A very uneventful period, and the preseason is up next!
