Preseason

January 27th, 2030: My preseason started out great, with a budget raise and a Free Agent Signing. 28-year-old Cuban 1B Rodolfo Solorzano signed a 4-year, $19.9 million deal with the fourth year a $6 million player option. The Havana Native had a nice career in Cuba before making the trip stateside. He can play all four infield spots, has plus-plus homer run and gap power with plus contact and eye. He's not much of a bse runner, but he's definitely very similar to former Marlin Chris Reid.

He would have filled up my 40, but I sent Doug Parsons to the 60-Day DL as he continues to rehab his torn UCL.

February 2nd, 2030: I added a lefty to the pen, acquiring young reliever Sam Stewart from the Astros for RHP Devon Green and Rule-5 RF Joel Smiley.

Stewart, 26, was the Astros 2nd Round Pick in 2026. Rated a 4/4.5, he's a groundballer with elite stuff, elite control, and plus movement. He can toss multiple pitches out of the pen and is a very durable arm. In his rookie year, he tossed 78.1 innings in 76 games with a 3.45 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, and 75 strikeouts.

February 3rd, 2030: The Cardinals signed 3B Buddy Kennedy to a 1-year, $6.8 million deal. The career Diamondbcak has a .250/.317/.486 line in 2,745 at bats with 166 homers and 477 RBI's.

The Rockies signed SS Nander De Sedas to a 2-year, $10.3 million per year deal. He has a robust .294/.357/.432 career line, but with just 65 homers and 298 RBI's in 656 games.

February 7th, 2030: I made a minor trade today, sending C Dermott MacGregor to the Rays for SS Eric Strand.

Strand, 24, isn't the most special player, but he does share the name of a player I encounted in a fictional universe who was an absolute monster. I saw the name when I was shopping MacGregor in hopes of acquiring an optionable utility infielder, but he caught my eye instead, and there really were no quality options. He's a 2* prospect with decent speed and great defense at short. He's not the best hitter ever, but the former 25th Round Pick from the Royals is a decent depth option.

February 8th, 2030: The Rays went out and made another trade, sending CF Joel Brewer to the Padres for C Zack Humphreys. It's a fair deal, but I think the Rays must have a catcher fetish, as Humphreys will become the 5th on the 40 Man Roster. Granted, none of them are any good, and MacGregor is the best option.

February 10th, 2030: I signed longtime Rockies closer Juan Toribio to a 1-year, $8 million deal. Stuck with Coors Field as his home park, his 3.69 ERA isn't the most impressive, but his 680 strikeouts and 1.16 WHIP in 436.2 innings with 131 saves. He'll slot as the replacement 8th inning guy, a job formerly held by Josh Brown.

February 13th, 2030: I did want top catching prospects Pat Hughes and Jorge Tapia to sit on the bench all year, so I signed veteran backstop Joey Bart to a 1-year, $1,780,000 contract. Even at 33, the former 2nd Round Pick (2nd Overall in real life) is a plus defender with plus power. He's rated a 2* and has a .240/.286/.452 line with 159 homers and 409 RBI's in 850 games, all but 53 (with the Yankees) with the Twins.

February 22nd, 2030: The Washington Senators sent C Sam Cohen and LHP Danny Staley to the Pirates for RF Bobby Eaton. I actually really like this deal for the Senators, as Eaton is a pretty good ballplayer.

Off to Spring Training!
