April 2nd-April 7th

April 2nd, 2030: Happy Opening Day! According to the preseason predictions, your Marlins are projected to finish just 87-75, 8 games behind the 95-67 Atlanta Braves. 87-75 is just good for tied with the Dodgers for the 2nd Wild Card. Fear not, however, as the predictions don't take into account that Juan Ramirez and Juan Simental will be playing most of the season as opposed to Sergio Tello and Gregorio Alvarenga.

The Top 100 Prospect List was published, and somehow Rogelio Maldonado still ranks #1 overall. I guess 126 at bats and 72 days of service time isn't enough to shed his prospect status. We rank 12th in the league, with just Juan Toledo (83rd) cracking the top 100 besides Maldonado.

The Mets signed LF Pu-Feng Ju to a 1 year, $11.7 million deal. A Taiwanese International Free Agent, the 27-year-old boasts elite power, plus-plus contact, and a plus eye. He's not the best defender, but he's definitely an All-Star Caliber player.

We opened the season hosting the Philadelphia Phillies. Dursun Erbakan took on his former team and teammate Jim Gilbert to start 2030. Our Opening Day lineup is as follows: RF Frye, 1B Horvath, 3B Tatis Jr., LF Tetteh, CF Kym, 2B Reid, SS Smith, C Miller, P Erbakan. It's definitely a weird lineup, but if we win we can play it every day! I think both offenses forgot the season started, and we shut the visitors out 1-0.

Erbakan got a no decision, 6.1 innings with 3 hits, a walk, and 9 strikeouts. C.J. LaFever finished the 7th to earn the win, with Juan Toribio picking up a hold and Chad Scoles the save.

Jon Reid was 2-for-2 with a walk and run scored. Erbakan was 1-for-2. Mac Horvath and Ernie Frye were both 1-for-4. Omari Tetteh was 1-for-1 before leaving with a mild abdominal strain.

Brand new Senator Bobby Eaton had a debut to remember, going 3-for-3 with 3 homers in a 8-3 win over the Angels. Arizona 3B Jorge Herrera was 5-for-5 in an 11-3 win over the Giants.

April 3rd, 2030: The Dodgers signed RHP Nate Blinf to a 1-year, $2.6 million deal.

Game two of 162 took place between C.J. Jorgensen and former Marlin Sergio Montreal. Today's affair was 14 innings, and the Phillies edged us 3-2.

Jackson Miller was ejected in the 1st for arguing a strike call...

Jorgensen allowed an unearned run in 5.2 innings with 4 hits, 4 walks, and 4 strikeouts. So many times it seems our extra inning games are caused by stupid unearned runs... Juan Toribo allowed a run, walk, and 2 hits with a strikeout. Steve Hudson got the loss, 2 innings with a hit, run, and 2 walks. Shiro Hiraki made his Marlins debut, 3 innings with a single hit in extras.

Sergio Tello was 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI's. Rogelio Maldonado was 1-for-4 with 2 runs and a walk. Fernando Tatis Jr. was 1-for-6.

Frye's hit streak was ended at 21.

Guillermo Tatis, who may or may not be related to Fernando, was 5-for-5 in a 11-9 Boston loss to the Rangers.

April 4th, 2030: We looked to take the finale with Pat Saitta matching up with Jonathan Childress. The Phillies offense woke up today, scoring 7 in the 4th to take the series with an 11-4 win.

Yikes...

Saitta went 3.2 innings with 10 hits, 8 runs, and 3 strikeouts. Hiraki went 2.1 innings with 3 hits, run, walk, and strikeout. Joe Kramer tossed 2 innings with a hit, 2 runs, a walk, and 5 strikeouts.

Omari Tetteh was 2-for-4 with a steal. Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with a double and run scored. Chi-yong Kym was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Fernando Tatis Jr. was 1-for-4 with a two run homer and walk. Mac Horvath was 1-for-3 with 2 runs, 2 walks, and a double.

Pirates C Sam Cohen, who was acquired for the earlier mentioned Bobby Eaton, launched three homers of his own in a 6-1 win over the Rockies.

Colorado is where we are heading to face those Rockies, where we'll see ex-Marlins Luis Ardon and Tim Cate, followed by Opening Day Starter Eric Dawson (1-0, 1.50 ERA).

April 5th, 2030: After just 1 game, the Giants will be without Mike Shawaryn for the year with a tore labrum. The 35-year-old allowed 2 runs in 1.1 innings with 3 hits, a walk, and strikeout.

Game 1 took place between Devon Peterson and former Marlin Luis Ardon at a packed Coors Field. Our rough start continues as the Rockies got 5 in the 3rd to win the opener 8-3. Maybe we aren't good? It's wayyyyyy toooooo early....

Peterson looked bad, 4 innings with 8 hits, 7 runs, a walk, and 3 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra tossed 2 innings with 2 hits and 2 strikeouts. C.J. LaFever allowed a hit, run, and 2 walks in 0.1 innings.

Jackson Miller was 2-for-3 with a walk and solo homer. Rogelio Maldonado was 2-for-4 with 2 doubles and a run scored. Omari Tetteh was 1-for-4 with a solo homer, the first of his career. Sergio Tello was 1-for-2 with 2 walks. Jon Reid was 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Down in Greensboro, RF Mike Guerrero was 5-for-5 in a 13-5 win over the Gastonia Expos.

The Rays returned Juan Zamora after just 3.2 innings. He walked 2, allowed 2 hits, and struck out 2. He'll report to AA Jacksonville.

April 6th, 2030: We really needed to get back on track, with Steve Paustian taking on Tim Cate. Paustian was the guy for the job, and we beat the Rox 5-1 to even the series back up.

Paustian was great, 7 innings with 2 hits, 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra allowed 2 hits and a run in the 9th. C.J. LaFever struck out 2, but also allowed 2 hits, leading to Chad Scoles getting a ground out to finish the game and earn his 2nd save.

Ernie Frye was 4-for-5 with 2 runs, a steal, and double. Jon Reid was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Mac Horvath was 2-for-4 with a walk and double. Omari Tetteh was 1-for-3 with a sac-fly, steal, and 3 RBI's. Noah Smith was 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored. Joey Bart was 1-for-4 with a double and RBI. Paustian was 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Ryan Wimbush made his first start for the Pirates, and tossed a 2-hit shutout in a 5-0 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. He struck out 5 and walked 3.

April 7th, 2030: The Brewers will be without CL Andy Hippler for the rest of the season with a torn flexor tendon. The former 4th Overall pick allowed 4 runs in 2 innings.

The Mariners signed SS Osiris Johnosn to a 1-year, $7.9 million deal.

We looked to take the finale with Dursun Erbakan (0-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.63 WHIP) taking on Eric Dawson (1-0, 1.50 ERA, 1.17 WHIP). It was a close one, but a late inning comeback game us a 7-6 win.

Jackson Miller left with a strained achilles tendon, and will head to the DL for hopefully the minimum.

Erbakan had a rough outing, 5 innings with 7 hits, 6 runs (5 earned), 4 walks, and 6 strikeouts. The pen tossed 4 innings with 4 hits, 2 walks, and 5 strikeotus. Shiro Hiraki got the win, 0.2 perfect frames while Chad Scoles had a shaky 9th to earn the save.

Frye had another 4-hit game, 3-for-5 with 2 runs and a double. Fernando Tatis Jr. was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, a steal, and homer. Noah Smith was 2-for-5 with a steal and 2 RBI's. Miller was 2-for-4. Jon Reid was 1-for-4 with a run scored, RBI, double, and walk. Chi-yong Kym was 1-for-4 with a walk and run scored. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with a walk and run scored. Steve Hudson was 1-for-1 with an RBI.

Arizona 1B Iestyn Spreckley launched 3 homers in a 9-0 win over the Pilots.

We're headed back home for three with the Brewers. We'll face Victor Mederos (1-0, 3.18 ERA), Rawley Hector (0-0, 3.00 ERA), and Charlie Neeper (1-0, 9.00 ERA).
