May 30th-June 5th

May 30th, 2030: The Rockies were in town for three as Steve Paustian (3-5, 3.83 ERA, 1.44 WHIP) looked to stay hot against former teammate Luis Ardon (2-5, 4.99 ERA, 1.46 WHIP). Down 4-2 heading to the 9th, we cut the deficit to just 1 before Juan Simental hit a walk-off two run double to claim the opener 5-4.

Paustian had a rough outing, 6.1 innings with 7 hits, 4 runs, 2 walks, but 8 strikeotus. Juan Toribio got the win, an inning with a hit, walk, and 2 strikeotus.

Noah Smith was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Mac Horvath was 2-for-3 with a walk, double, and run scored. Simental was 2-for-5 with the 2 eun double. Sergoi Tello was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Omari Tetteh had a pinch hit double and scored in the 9th.

May 31st, 2030: Juan Ramirez is healthy, so Jorge Escobar was optioned to AAA.

We looked to finish our worst month likely ever with Dursun Erbakan (2-1, 6.36 ERA, 1.57 WHIP) facing Eric Dawson (5-2, 5.28 ERA, 1.74 WHIP). We got 5 in the 8th to win 6-1. Are things turning around?

Erbakan struck out 10 and walked just 1 with 5 hits and a run in 5 innings. The pen tossed 4 hitless innings with 2 walks (courtesy of Toribio who got the win) and 4 strikeouts.

Ernie Frye was 2-for-5 with a steal. Noah Smith was 2-for-2 with a run scored, 2 doubles, 3 RBI's, and 2 walks. Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI's. Jon Reid was 1-for-3 with 2 runs and a walk. Juan Ramirez was 1-for-3 with a run scored and walk. Fernando Tatis Jr. was 1-for-2 with a run scored and 2 walks. Juan Simental was 1-for-4 with a double, run scored, and RBI.

June 1st, 2030: Fan Vote Update: Fernando Tatis Jr. ranks 3rd for 3B. Juan Ramirez ranks 2nd for LF. Juan Simental ranks 1st for CF. Chad Scoles ranks 2nd for RP. Ernie Frye ranks 3rd for RF.

We looked to finish the sweep with C.J. Jorgensen (5-2, 2.27 ERA, 1.07 WHIP) facing Ty Madden (2-3, 5.09 ERA, 1.32 WHIP). We really tried to mess this one up, as we allowed 6 in the 9th, but escaped with a 8-2 win...

C.J. was solid, 8+ innings with 6 hits, a run, and 3 strikeouts. Steve Hudson struggled, 2 hits and 2 walks, with all 4 runners scoring. Sam Stewart allowed a hit and run. Chad Scoles finished the game, an inning with a hit and strikeout.

Juan Ramirez was 3-for-4 with 2 solo homers, a walk, and 3 runs. Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with a double and run scored. Jon Reid was 2-for-2 with a run scored, RBI, and 2 walks. Vidal Brujan was 1-for-3 with a run scored and sac-fly. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with a walk and run scored. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-4 with a triple, walk, and 3 RBI's. Sergio Tello was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Juan Simental was 1-for-5 with a steal.

Juan Ramirez now has a 20 game hit streak. If he didn't get hurt every game, it might be 40...

Off to Milwaukee for three with the Brewers. We'll face Rawley Hector (4-1, 3.45 ERA), Rodolfo Espinoza (3-4, 4.68 ERA), and Charlie Neeper (5-3, 5.84 ERA).

June 2nd, 2030: The Diamondbacks will be without SP Kevin Jalbert for the year with a stretched elbow ligament. He was 3-0 with a 1.95 ERA in 4 starts and 8 relief appearences. He struck out 30 in 32.1 innings with a save and a 1.02 WHIP.

We opened the series with the Brewers with Pat Saitta (2-2, 4.97 ERA, 1.36 WHIP) facing Rawley Hector (4-1, 3.45 ERA, 1.13 WHIP). Everything was working today, and we crushed the now 36-22 Brewers 13-0!

Only down fall was Gregorio Alvarengaleft with hip soreness, but he will avoid a DL trip for now.

Saitta went 7.1 innings with just 1 hit, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. Shiro Hiraki finished the final 1.2 innigns with a hit, walk, and 3 strikeouts.

Juan Ramirez continued his hitstreak and then some, 2-for-4 with a solo homer, 2 run homer, 3 runs, and a walk. Fernando Tatis Jr. was 3-for-5 with a two run homer and 3 RBI's. Ernie Frye was 2-for-4 with 2 runs and a walk. Noah Smith was 2-for-4 with a homer, 2 runs, 2 RBI's, and a walk. Joey Bart was 2-for-4 with a walk, solo homer, and three run homer. Alvarenga was 1-for-4 with a double, run scored, RBI, and walk. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with a hit by pitch and run scored.

Wow, that felt grat!

June 3rd, 2030: The White Sox will be without SP Juan Arenas for the year with a torn flexor tendon in his elbow. This ends a rough season for the 27-year-old, who was 0-5 with a 9.25 ERA and 2.14 WHIP in 8 starts.

We jumped all the way to second in the Power Rankings. At 34-24, we're just 1 out of First and the Wild Card.

Prospect Watch: RF Juan Luera (AA Jacksonville):

Acquired in a deal with the Mariners, Juan Lurea was already past his "prospect prime." After being signed for a hair under $2 million out of the D.R. in 2024, Lurea didn't have the best transition to organized ball. Things look to be on the rise for the 22-year-old, as he dominated A+ Jupiter in a 17 game sample this year to earn a promotion to Jacksonville. He hit .345/.424/.569 in 58 at bats with 3 homers and 12 RBI's. With the Jumbo Shrimp, he's continued that momentum, hitting .324/.355/.521 with 3 more hoemrs and 13 RBI's in 71 at bats. Lurea isn't the best defender in the outfield, but he's got a plus-plus arm and he'll make most routine plays. He strikes out very rarely and has plus power, but he no longer displays the elite contact potential he was supposed to have as an amateur. His fault his whole career is his lack of hustle, but maybe now with a roster spot in jeopardy, he can fight his way back into the prospect picture.

We looked to keep rolling with Devon Peterson (5-3, 5.87 ERA, 1.66 WHIP) facing Rodolfo Espinoza (3-4, 4.68 ERA, 1.41 WHIP). Down 2-1 in the 9th, Noah Smith hit an RBI single to tie the game at 2 and force extras. Fast foward to the 13th, we put up 2 runs in the top half to give us a 4-2 lead. They got one back in the bottom half, but we managed to win 4-3 with Steve Paustian, the go to relief/starter, recording the dub.

Fernando Tatis Jr. left with an elbow contusion, and will head to the DL for 1-2 weeks.

Peterson pitched well, 6.1 innings with 5 hits, 2 runs, 5 walks, and 5 strikeouts. One reliever pitched 0.2 innings, 6 other guys got just 1 out, and Chad Scoles tossed 2 innings with 3 hits and 4 strikeouts. Next was Paustian, who went 2 innings with 2 hits, a run, walk, and 2 strikeotus.

Ernie Frye was 2-for-5 with a walk, run scored, and steal. Juan Ramirez was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, a walk, and a scary hit by pitch to keep the hit streak going. Tatis was 1-for-3 with a double. His replacement, Vidal Brujan, was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Jackson Miller was 1-for-5 with a sac-fly. Noah Smith was 1-for-5 with an RBI.

June 4th, 2030: The Phillies would be without Luillly Ovalle for the rest of the year with a partially torn UCL. He was 1-1 in 20 relief appearences with a 4.58 ERA, 1.58 WHIP, and 21 strikeouts.

I needed a spot starter for today, so I purchased the Contract of Eric Moore from AA. He'd be optioend after the game, but the former Padres 11th Rounder would make his MLB debut at 27. He'd face Charlie Neeper (5-3, 5.84 ERA, 1.36 WHIP) as we'd look to finish the sweep. For a short notice promotion, it was relatively impressive, and we finished the sweep with a 6-3 win.

Moore went 7 innings with 9 hits, 2 runs, a walk, and 4 strikeouts to really help preserve the bullpen. Juan Toribio tossed an inning with a hit, run, and 2 strikeouts. Chad Scoles finished the 9th with just 5 pitches to get the save.

Juan Ramirez's hit streak is up to 23 after he went 1-for-4 with a rnu scored. Mac Horvath was 2-for-3 with a run scored and walk. Noah Smith was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Ernie Frye was 1-for-4 with a double, run scored, and RBI. Juan Simental was 1-for-5 with a base clearing double. Jackson Miller was 1-for-4 with a run scored.

Mariners CF Andy Norman launched 3 homers in a 9-6 win over the Twins.

Moore was set back down to AA.

We get tomorrow off, and it's also the Draft!

June 5th, 2030: We got today off to foucs strictly on the draft.

First, the Padres acquired LF Carlos Rodriguez from the Reds for LHP Luis Mediola. It's a steal for the Reds.

I recalled Rogelio Maldonado from AAA to replace Tatis/Moore.

We're headed to Cincy to face the Reds. We'd see Jonathan Holder (2-4, 5.36 ERA), Esteban Aguirre (5-3, 2.55 ERA), and Mike Kuhns (2-5, 3.52 ERA).

But first, the 2030 Amateur Draft! Time to get a ton of studs!
