June 12th, 2030: The Washington Senators will be without RHP Chris Gunnell for the season with a torn ulnar collateral ligament. He was 3-2 with a 7.78 ERA with 32 strikeouts in 41.2 innings.
We were in San Diego to start a three game series with the Padres. C.J. Jorgensen (6-2, 2.27 ERA, 1.07 WHIP) took on Josh Ferland (5-6, 2.86 ERA, 1.06 WHIP) ini the opener. We failed to score a run, and were shutout 6-0...
Jorgensen went 6 with 7 hits, 6 runs, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts. Hudson and Stewart went 2 total innings with 2 hits and 2 strikeouts.
Juan Ramirez continued the hit streak, going 2-for-4 with a double. Jon Reid was 2-for-3 with a double. Gregorio Alvarenga was 1-for-2 with 2 walks. Juan Simental was 1-for-4 with a double.
Down in AAA, Luis Puerta was 5-for-6 as New Orleans beat Alburguergue 11-9.
Ramirez's hit streak is now up to 30 games, the longest since Francisco Lindor's 38 game hit streak back in 2019.
June 13th, 2030: 39th Overall Pick Trev Deal agreed to a $650,000 signing bonus.
We looked to even the series up with Pat Saita (3-3, 4.87 ERA, 1.32 WHIP) facing Alfredo Minjares (0-1, 15.75 ERA, 2.75 WHIP). The offense woke up today, and we toppled the Friars 8-2.
Saitta tossed 6 solid innings with 3 hits, a run, 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Shiro Hiraki allowed a hit and run in an inning.
31 games for Ramirez, as he was 2-for-5 with a two run homer, two runs scored, and a double. Mac Horvath was a perfect 3-for-3 with 2 walks, 2 doubles, and 2 RBI's. Ernie Frye was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, a double, sac-fly, and steal. Jackson Miller was 1-for-4 with a solo homer, two runs scored, and a walk. Juan Simental was 1-for-4 with a double and walk.
Pirates southpaw Brad Rauter tossed a 4-hit shutout in a 5-0 win over the Nationals. He struck out 3 and walked 1.
June 14th, 2030: Fernando Tatis Jr. was activated from the DL and Rogelio Maldonado was optioned to AAA.
3rd Rounder Mike Bennett agreed to a $380,000 signing bonus.
The Doves will be without rookie Jadon Gaiters for the year with a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament. A 9th Round Pick by the Pirates in 2028, he made his debut this year, tossing 23.2 innings with a 5.70 ERA and 1.99 WHIP.
We looked to take the finale with Devon Peterson (3-3, 5.21 ERA, 1.57 WHIP) facing Kinnon Linfoot (4-1, 2.22 ERA, 1.23 WHIP). We did just about everything right, and dominated 12-1.
Only problem is Devon Peterson left with hamstring sorenss. Luckily, he won't likely miss his next start.
Peterson went just 1.2 innings with a hit. Shiro Hiraki came in to get the win, 3.1 innings with 4 hits and a strikeout. Luis Alcantra tossed 3 more with 2 hits, a run, walk, and strikeout.
32 games for Ramirez, as he went 3-for-4 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, 2 doubles, a walk, and hit by pitch. Mac Horvath was 3-for-5 with a run scored, double, and 4 RBI's. Gregorio Alvarenga was 3-for-4 with 3 runs, a RBI, double, and 2 walks. Juan Simental was 2-for-6 with a run scored and RBI. Jon Reid was 2-for-2 with a run scored, hit by pitch, and walk. Jackson Miller was 2-for-6 with 2 runs scored. Fernando Tatis Jr. was 1-for-3 with a walk and RBI. Ernie Frye and Omari Tetteh both had pinch hit singles and scored. Frye also stole second.
We'll head back home for three with Washington. We'll face Steve Vincent (6-4, 4.24 ERA), former Marlin Ignacio Hinojos (4-4, 3.56 ERA), and Luis Escolastico (3-4, 5.94 ERA).
June 15th, 2030: Fan Vote Update: Tatis is 2nd for 3rd. Ramirez 1st for LF. Simental 1st for CF. Frye 3rd for RF. Scoles 2nd for RP.
We opened the Nationals series with Steve Paustian (4-6, 4.66 ERA, 1.43 WHIP) hosting Steve Vincent (6-4, 4.24 ERA, 1.10 WHIP) and the Nationals. It was another great game, and we won the opener 6-1.
Fernando Tatis Jr., however, left with injury, and his diagnosis is pending. When I got him, he was "Normal" although now he is "Fragile" for his injury proneness...
Paustian went 7 with 6 innings, a run, 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts. C.J. LaFever went 2 innings with a hit, walk, and strikeout.
Ramirez's streak continues, as he went 1-for-4.
Gregorio Alvarenga was 3-for-4 with a double and 2 runs scored. Juan Simental was 2-for-4 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, and a homer. Sergio Tello was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Noah Smith was 1-for-3 with a run scored, RBI, and walk. Jon Reid was 1-for-3 with an RBI double. Vidal Brujan came off the bench for Tatis, and went 1-for-3.
Jacksonville C Esteban Moreno was named MVP in the Southern League All-Star Game. He was 2-for-2 with a two run homer.
June 16th, 2030: Dursun Erbakan (2-2, 5.40 ERA, 1.50 WHIP) took on Ignacio Hinojos (4-4, 3.56 ERA, 1.16 WHIP) in his return to Marlins Park. He got a great welcome home and recieved a standing ovation when he was announced in the starting lineup. We got 5 runs in the 8th to pull away for a 8-2 win.
Erbakan was great, 5.1 innings with 2 hits, 3 walks, and 11 strikeouts. Please, please, please keep pitching like this! Sam Stewart, Juan Toribio, and C.J. LaFever all got holds efore Chad Scoles struck out the side in the 9th. Stewart was charged with 3 hits, 2 runs (1 earned), and 1 walk.
Make it 34 for Ramirez! He was 1-for-3 with a run scored and hit by pitch.
Gregorio Alvarenga was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Jon Reid was 1-for-3 with 2 runs, a RBI, and walk. Jackson Milller was 1-for-3 with a run scored, RBI, and walk. Noah Smith was 1-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI's. Mac Horvath was 1-for-3 with a double, run scored, and walk. Ken Adeniran had a pinch-hit, base clearing double, and later scored in the 8th. Ernie Frye was 1-for-4 with a walk and RBI.
June 17th, 2030: Tatis Jr. was diagnosed with a sprained knee, and he'll head to the DL for 2 weeks. I recalled Rodolfo Solorzano to replace him.
Wander S. Holsapple agreed to a $600,000 bonus. He was the 40th Overall Pick.
We remained 4th in the Power Rankings. At 42-29, we are 2 out of first, but tied with the Brewers for the 2nd Wild Card spot.
We looked to finish the sweep with C.J. Jorgensen (6-3, 2.74 ERA, 1.10 WHIP) taking on Luis Escolastico (3-4, 5.94 ERA, 1.41 WHIP). We couldn't finish off the Nats, and they took the finale 8-4.
Jorgensen went just 4.2 innings with 6 hits, 4 runs, a walk, and 12 strikeouts. Steve Hudson went 1.2 innings with a hit, 2 runs, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Shiro Hiraki went 0.2 innings with 3 hits, 2 runs, and 2 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra went 2 innings with a strikeout.

Braves starter Garrison Bryant tossed a 1-hitter in a 4-0 win over the Seattle Pilots. He struck out 4. The only blemish was a Jon Keefe single to lead off the 5th, but he was quickly erased when the next batter, Royce Lewis, grounded into a double play.
Cubs CF Jim Mitchell was 5-for-5 in a 5-1 win over the Reds.
We get tomorrow off before heading north of the border to face the Expos!
