Awards, Arbitration, and Pre-Free Agency
October 26th, 2030: You can't really do better then World Series Champion, so it's not going to be easy to improve on an amazing 2030 season.
A few moves: as noted the real life Potomac Nationals are moving to Fredericksburg, so I'd move them in game as well. They will be known as the Fredericksburg Nationals.
The bigger news comes in the Majors, as the Boston Doves will move to the AL Central in a hope to bring Interleague play back. They will now be known as the Nashville Vultures and will play their games in the Nashville Sounds old park, First Tennessee Park, although the capacity will be increased to 36,000.
The Nashville Sounds will move to Knoxville and remain the Sounds.
The Vultures A+ team, the Wilson Tobs, will also move, relocating to Fayetteville to become the Fayetteville Highlanders. Their DSL and GCL team will also be changed to the Nashville Vultures.
Alright, time for business!
My budget exploded!!! All the way up to $276,000,000 which is 14th in the league! Last year it was just $230 million.
I also got a 3-year extension for $2.2 million per year!
I have a lot of minor league personell spots to fill and re-arrange.
The White Sox sent inerim manager Jhonny Nunez way down to A+ Winston-Salem. The Royals fired manager Tony Pena Jr. The Nationals fired manager Brad Ausmus. The Doves/Vultures fired GM Billy Eppler and Manager Mike Matheny. The Brewers fired Manager A.J. Sager.
I only have six arbitration eligible players with seven impending Free Agents.
SP Dursun Erbakan (1-year, $10,530,000): I messed up on locking him up longterm...
RP C.J. LaFever (1-year, $7,470,000)
RP Jamie Priest (1-year, $3,310,000)
C Jackson Miller (6-years, $75,500,000)
CF Juan Simental (1-year, $5,350,000)
RF Ernie Frye (6-years, $115,500,000)
I extended a qualfying offer to Fernado Tatis Jr. I wanted to extend Reid, but he wanted too much (an 10-years).
November 4th, 2030: Toronto CL Sergio Morales (34/34: 170) and Miami CL Chad Scoles (33/34: 168) were named Reliever of the Year Winners. This is Scoles third and second straight time winning.
November 6th, 2030: Houston RF Joel Smiley (27/34: 156), who I traded after selecting him in the Rule-5 Draft, and Mets LF Pu-feng Ju (28/34: 158) were named Rookie of the Year.
The Pilots sent RHP Kevin Mitchell and RHP Roman Smart to the Phillies for SS Nate Ashley and RHP Tim Agyemang. I really like this deal for the Pilots.
November 7th, 2030: Astros Manager Steven Neff and Marlins Manager Aaron Boone won Manager of the Year. It's Boone's third award, as he won back in 2024 and 2026.
November 8th, 2030: I earned the achievement "Pitcher of the Year" because none other then Esteban Aguirre (34/34: 238) and Royals SP Jeff Hormann (29/34: 233) were named Cy Young Winners. I remember way back when I almost accidentally traded for Hormann. It was a great breakout for the 3* lefty.
November 9th, 2030: Rangers 1B C.J. Vick (18/34: 396) barley edged Mariners 2B Kurt Metzger (16/34: 385) in a tight AL MVP race. Just like Cubs 2B Bobby Holloway (16/34: 373) had just 1 more first place vote then Marlins SP Esteban Aguirre (15/296: 296) in the NL MVP race. No love for Juan Ramirez, although he played in just 94 games.
November 12th, 2030: I made a minor swap, sending LHP Jamie Priest to the Rockies for RHP Sergio Romero.
Romero, 25, is rated a 3/4 as a RP and a 2/3 as a SP. The former 5th Overall Pick in 2024 gotinto big league action the past two seasons. He's 2-2 with a 5.54 ERA in 41 appearences (3 starts) with 44 walks and 73 strikeouts. I think he'll love leaving Coors Field, and still has an option left to fix things up in the minors. He's got 100 rated stuff, plus movement, and just average control. His stamina isn't horrible, but not the high level I usually like. His three pitch arsenal contains an elite fastball that sits at 97-99 with a plus sinker and plus-plus change up. He's a sidearmer who keeps the ball on the ground.
November 17th, 2030: Fernando Tatis Jr. declined the qualifying offer, so I should get a compensation pick.
Free Agency is next!
