April 8th-April 13th

April 8th, 2031: We arrived in Colorado as Dursun Erbakan (0-0, 0.00 ERA, 1.50 WHIP) took the mound against Eric Dawson (1-0, 3.00 ERA, 1.67 WHIP). It was a tight one, but the Rockies edged us 6-5 to take the opener.

Erbakan had a rough outing, 4 innings with 10 hits, 6 runs, and just 2 strikeouts. Shiro Hiraki had a rough 2 innings, allowing 2 hits and 2 walks, but with 3 strikeouts.

Ernie Frye was 2-for-3 with a run scored, RBI, sac-bunt, walk, double, and steal. Juan Simental was 2-for-5 with a homer and 2 RBI's. Macs HOrvath was 1-for-4 with a run scored, RBI, and walk. Jackson Miller and Rogelio Maldonado were both 1-for-4 with a run scored.

April 9th, 2031: We looked to even the series back up with Steve Paustian (0-1, 14.73 ERA, 2.73 WHIP) looking to shake off a rough season debut against Ty Madden (1-0, 3.60 ERA, 1.40 WHIP). We had a crazy one, and extra innings were needed after a 5-5 tie when the 9th finished. Both teams scored a run a piece in the 12th and 13th. In the 14th, we got 2 runs, and managed to hold off the Rockies for a 9-7 win in a game that took almost 6 houts.

Paustian went 5 innigns with 6 hits, 4 runs (2 earned...), 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts. Rodolfo Esquilin went 0.2 innings with 4 hits and a run. Juan Razo struck out the side in the 8th, but allowed a single hit. Shiro Hiraki got the win, 3 innings with a hit, 2 runs (1 earned...), 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts.

Man those unearned run...

Juan Ramirez was 3-for-7 with a solo homer and 2 runs scored. Jon Reid was 3-for-7 with a run scored, RBI, and double. Gregorio Alvarenga was 2-for-6 with a run scored, RBI, and walk. Ernie Frye was 1-for-6 with a walk and two run homer. Juan Simental was 1-for-6 with a walk and solo homer. Rogelio Maldonado was 1-for-4 with a run scored, 2 RBI's, 2 walks, and a double. Takeshi Kino****a came off the bench, and wa s1-for-2 with a walk.

April 10th, 2031: Cleveland will be without RHP Amari Ifill for the year with a torn labrum in his shoulder. The 29-year-old tossed 4 innings out of the pen, allowing 3 hits, a run, and 2 walks with 4 strikeouts.

The Tigers signed 38-year-old veteran reliever Dovydas Neverauskas to a 1-year, $10 million deal. The Mariners signed RHP Alan Taylor to a 1-year, $9.3 million deal.

Former Marlin Tim Cate (0-1, 9.00 ERA, 2.00 WHIP) and C.J. Jorgensen (0-0, 5.40 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) dueled in the rubber match at Coors Field. The offense was unstoppable, and we pummeled the Rockies 18-4 to leave Colorado with a series win.

Ernie Frye was an absolute monster, going a perfect 6-for-6 with 4 runs, 4 RBI's, a double, triple, and homer! So not only was he 6-for-6, he hit for the cycle! This is his second 5 or more hit game, as he was 5-for-5 on April 3rd, 2029 as a Ray against the Twins. He's now hitting a whopping .536/.594/1.036 with 3 homers and 11 RBI's in just 28 at bats.

C.J. Jorgensen got the win, 5.1 innings with 6 hits, 4 runs (3 earned), 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts. Danny Dempsey tossed 2 innings with 3 strikeouts.

Mac Horvath was 3-for-4 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, and 2 walks. Takeshi Kinoshia was 3-for-4 with a double, homer, 3 runs, 2 walks, and 5 RBI's. Rogelio Maldonado was 2-for-6 with 2 runs scored. Jon Reid was 2-for-4 with a run scored, triple, and 2 RBI's. Juan Simental was 1-for-4 with 3 runs, 2 RBI's, a double, and steal. Pat Hughes was 1-for-4 with a run scored, walk, and sac-fly.

We're headed back home for three with the Brewrs before out first off day of the year. We'll see Charlie Neeper (0-1, 10.80 ERA), Rodolfo Espinoza (0-0, 2.02 ERA), and Kevin Addario (0-0, 3.38 ERA).

April 11th, 2031: We welcomed the Brewers to a packed Marlins Park as Juan Maya (1-0, 4.50 ERA, 1.83 WHIP) took on Charlie Neeper (0-1, 10.80 ERA, 1.80 WHIP). The Brewers tried to come back in the 9th, but we held them off for a 5-3 victory.

Rogelio Maldonado was ejected in the 6th for arguing a strike call...

Maya was excellent, 7 strong innings with 3 hits, a run, and 8 strikeouts. C.J. LaFever stumbeled in the 9th, allowing 2 hits and 2 runs. Chad Scoles picked up his 1st save, finnishing the 9th with a hit and strikeout.

Juan Ramirez was 3-for-4 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's, a homer, and steal. Jackson Miller was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI's and a double to improve his average to an impressive .118. Jarred Kelenic was 2-for-4 with a run scored and RBI. Juan Simental was 1-for-4 with a double and run scored. Takeshi Kino****a was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Mac Horvath was 1-for-4 with a double.

April 12th, 2031: I claimed RHP Luis Alcantra (not the lefty I had for a while) off waivers from the Pilots. This Alcantra has elite stuff and tosses 96-98 with his elite fastball. He has a plus-plus slider, useless changeup, plus stamina, and is rated a 2.5/3* as a reliever. He's kind of a filler arm for now until I can get Hoong healthy, but he's an intriguing piece the Pilots keep trying to trade me. He was a 7th Round Pick out of the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy in 2024 by the Cardinals.

I optioned Danny Dempsey to AAA.

We looked to keep rolling with Esteban Aguirre (1-0, 0.63 ERA, 0.63 WHIP) facing Rodolfo Espinoza (0-0, 2.02 ERA, 1.20 WHIP). It's almost expected that we win games Aguirre pitches, and we took another step closer to a sweep with a 5-2 win.

Aguirre was great, 7.2 innings with 6 hits, 6 strikeouts, and 2 runs. Juan Razo got the final out of the 8th for a hold. Chad Scoles struck out all three hitters he faced in the 9th for the save.

Rogelio Maldonado was a perfect 3-for-3 with a sac-fly. Takeshi Kino****a was 2-for-4 with a double and run scored. Sergio Tello was 1-for-4 with a run scored and 2 RBI's. Aguirre was 1-for-3 with 2 RBI's. Jackson Miller was 1-for-3 with a walk and run scored. Horvath and Reid were both 1-for-4 with a run scored.

Pirates lefty Brad Rauter tossed a 3-hit shutout in a 3-0 win over the Phillies. He struck otu 8 and didn't walk a batter.

April 13th, 2031: We looked to fight fatigue an earn the home sweep with Dursun Erbakan (0-1, 10.13 ERA, 2.25 WHIP) facing Kevin Addario (0-0, 3.38 ERA, 1.50 WHIP). After a 4-4 tie brough extra innings, the Brewers got 1 in the 10th to win the finale 5-4.

Erbakan was great, 5 innings with 3 hits, a run, walk, and 6 strikeouts. Luis Alcantra and Josh Cronin earned holds before C.J. LaFever blew the save. I blame the defenese, as in his 0.1 innigs, all 3 runs were unearened and he allowed 2 hits. Ken Adeniran got the loss, 1.1 innings with a hit, run, and 2 strikeouts.

Man these errors...

Jon Reid was 2-for-4 with a run scored, RBI, and walk. Juan Simental was 2-for-5 with a double and RBI. Mac Horvath was 2-for-4 with a walk and run scored. Takeshi Kino****a was 1-for-3 with a run scored, double, and 2 walks. Ernie Frye was 1-for-4 with a run scored, RBI, and walk.

We get tomorrow off!
