Pivetta Gets Tagged for 8 in 3rd Inning as Phillies Lose 6th Straight

4/23/19: Game 17

The wheels came off of Nick Pivetta's start in the 3rd inning, as the Orioles exploded for 8 runs in the inning. It seemed like the Phillies offense was getting something going as Odubel Herrera hit a 2-run homer in the 1st inning for an early 2-0 lead, but the bats went silent until a 3-run rally in the top of the 9th which proved to be futile. Orioles' 1B Trey Mancini went 2 for 5 at the plate with 4 RBI, and DH Chris Davis went 2 for 4 with 3 RBI. Rhys Hoskins did all he could for the Phillies, going 2 for 4 with 3 RBI at the plate, but the deficit was too great to overcome. The Phillies will head to Pittsburgh for a 4-game set after an off day and will hope to right the ship.
