Skipper Bert Skippmann makes an interesting storyline... a college baseball coach with no professional experience... that's unique for the Islandian Pro Alliance... I don't often do this in the IPA, but I should have done it more often... I think it would make for better reading and create more interest.
In the early days of the IPA all of the GMs and managers came from amateur baseball in the Islands... I gave them names like Alex Groveland (Grover Cleveland Alexander), Cobb Tyson (Ty Cobb), Herman "Baby" George (George Herman "Babe" Ruth), Gerry Louis (Lou Gehrig), Aaron Hankins (Hank Aaron), Matty Christianson (Christy Matthewson), Stacy Engel ( Casey Stengel), Ford Whiteman (Whitey Ford), Carlton "Lefty" Stevens (Steve Carlton). Foxy Jimason (Jimmy Foxx), O'Neal Buckman (Buck O'Neal), Page Satcher (Satchel Page), McGraw Johnson (John McGraw), Gibby Bobkins (Bob Gibson), Matt Donnelly (Don Mattingly), Rob Jackson (Jackie Robinson), Clem Rogers (Roger Clemens), Ryan Noland (Nolan Ryan), Tommaso Lazzorda (Tommy Lasorda), Robbie Brooks (Brooks Robinson), Zim Donner (Don Zimmer), Rusty Tannusa (Tony Larussa), Huggy Miller (Miller Huggins), Charlie Oscar (Oscar Charlton), Frisky Franks (Frankie Frisch), Will Hackett (Hack Wilson), Ashton "Whitey" Richburn (Richie Ashburn), Deroche "Lips" Leon (Leo Durocher), Guy Rondre (Ron Guidry), Walter Johanssen (Walter Johnson), Marty Pedroza (Pedro Martinez), Boo Ladrieux (Lou Boudreau), Killer Brewster (Harmon Killebrew) and Bret George (George Brett).
Sadly, I did not develop and expand the concept and give each manager personal qualities like his namesake.
