THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL, by Lloyd Johnson & Miles Wolff (2nd Edition - 1997) credited a Carl Gray of Charleston with leading the Ohio State League that year in batting average (.366) and home runs (33). The newspaper research I've conducted makes clear that it was Cecil Gray.
Cecil was one of those Sharman Society guys who spent some time at the big league level, but never got into a regular season game. He was with the New York Yankees during part of September, 1909.
The photo is from the Cincinnati Enquirer of September 22, 1913, and shows him with the Charleston Senators.
