I saw a post with a similar issue, but I wanted to make sure I report my own thread with some specifics.

I had 4 cards on auction and none of them received bids. I did not check the "auto sell if no bids" so they presumably will just go back to my reserve roster. I was playing a solo sim at the time the auction ended, and all of a sudden the cards that did not get sold ended up on my active roster in the solo sim.

Sim details
Historical league with random debut enabled, year 1872, non challenge mode.
