MIDDIES SLIGHT FAVORITE OVER TOUGH CHAMPS
In Tycobbian Union first-round play the Midway Wolves (92-62) are slightly favored over the Arlon Champions (93-61), mainly because of its two superstuds Norishige Ito and Daryl Vale... it's really tough to pick the winner... the series is really close... Ito (.334 BA/41 HR/112 RBI/120 R/7 SB), Vale (.330/33/117/96/25 SB) and Kax Clark (.297/8/67/102/2 SB) are the ones that make the Middies offense go... on the hill the Wolves are paced by Rob Land (18-4/2.90), Yank Atchley (17-14/3.45), Arnie McGill (15-19/3.83) and rookie Mel Merlo (15-12/3.46)... the bullpen is just average with closer Steve Swanwick (9-3/2.79 ERA/21 saves/46 G) and Will Deberry (9-4/3.64 ERA).

Arlon manager Mark Cameron has a solid ballclub with excellent offense and very good pitching, led at the plate by the trio of Jaimey Stansfield (.262 BA/44 HR/116 RBI/98 R/15 SB), Jon Cress (.327/25/80/67) and Art Catlin (.278/25/93/92/6 SB)... other run producers are Rebel Bryce (.324/17/54/52/2 SB), Zeppo Thiel (.279/16/58/66/13 SB) and Eduardo Garaza (.270/15/66/56/)... on the mound veteran starters Erik Branham (18-5/3.12), Dicky Towers (19-11/3.17), Ty Coffee (17-19/3.57) and J. C. Hilburn (8-5/3.63) stand out... plus longtime closer Mack Blair (4-2/2.23 ERA/24 saves/44 G) can still do the job in the bullpen.
