However, the players I have bought at auction have retained stats they've accrued from earlier in the same season in which they were acquired. Stats were also retained for players that were just removed from my lineup who I deactivated and reactivated.

Oddly enough, Stephens has stats from the last team he was with on his card that carried over to my team after I bought him at auction.
