Walkers news: Sept. 18 -- St. Louis 8, Twin Cities 7
Down 5-1 early, the River Walkers rallied and with three runs in the bottom of the ninth rallied to defeat the Snow Cats 8-7 and snap a five-game losing streak at Busch Stadium.
St. Louis had pulled within 6-5 in the bottom of the eighth inning, only to see a solo homer in the top of the ninth by Colin Moran off Brad Boxberger put Twin Cities back up by two.
But Nicky Delmonico, who had hit a solo home run off Cats starter Burch Smith in the fourth inning, opened the bottom of the ninth with a triple off Roberto Osuna and scored when Tucker Barnhart followed with a single.
An Adeimy Hechavarria bunt moved pinch-runner Frenchy Cordero to second base. Pinch-hitter Herschel Powell then followed with a single, scoring Cordero to tie it.
Lorenzo Cain followed with a single off new reliever Luis A. Garcia, moving Powell to third. Brock Holt followed with a game-winning single.
The seven-game losing streak was the longest of the season for the River Walkers, who sit at 101-50. They had lost three straight games in three previous occasions.
With the win, the River Walkers have still lost seven of eight and sit at 7-8 for the month. St. Louis has been at least seven games over .500 the first five months of the season.
