With their first pick of the 1970 draft (in the 2nd round, #59 overall) the Brewers select 21-year old outfielder Adam Nelson out of Worcester College.
Nelson is a speedy outfielder with strong defensive skills and plus contact potential. He is not expected to turn into a star and may not develop the skills to be a major league starter, but he has advanced plate discipline and could draw an above average number of walks while striking out infrequently and making consistent contact. He also is given high marks for character, is considered a clubhouse leader who puts team first always.
