OK, but still don't you think it's strange that two players with same background of not playing in 1985, but both prio and post that year, is handled differently by the game and the import. No ticked or unticked can make this selection.

I got ticked
Import Historical minors
Import and maintain real minor leaguers
Retire acc history
auto import hist rookie
amateur draft on 15 Dec.

and unticked
player miss season
use random rookie

So if I understood if ticked Player Miss Season Acc to history BOTH players should be omitted as you say for 1985 then pop up later.
BUT unticked they should pop up just as they do keep playing if they had 88-89 missed in RL. This is a very old issue of OOTP.

Only difference is Warren played in Japan -85 BUT had majorleague years prior to 85, Ubaldo had no MLB years prior to 85.
Can't figure out how BOTH was missed in your testrun. Cromartie have been in every setup of my OOTP versions back to when the case with players that did miss some years (ex Vogelsong) wasn't imported. Fact is that he should be in yours, so why not ?

That Ubaldo pop up in the draft class is just another problem the game hasn't thought off. No 30year old should go in the pool but turn up as FA.
Think most (as I did up to now) play with historical players popping into the team they really signed their first contract with. Then this will not be seen or occur. I bet Japanese players later will also pop up in the draft pool and not as FA ready to be signed by every team. With no amateur draft they of course will go to the correct team. Ichiro Suzuki in Seattle, but in mine with draft he probably come on as draft pool player.

Then something isn't 100% correct since I got another issue with John Mitchell. He played since 1983 minors and up in Majors 86. I tried two setups and he popped up as a possible draft player in my first year. He should have been in the game from the start in Boston. His minor stats was lost (83-85). If I deleted him when he popped up as draftpool player and imported him back, he was imported correctly with all stats even from 83-85.

Well I guess thousands of players so we will get the odd ones wrong in some cases. Need to live with that I guess.

Some mismatch is wrong here, and easily better blame it on me. Just too many ticks and unticks stuff in such a detailed game. Then with so many combos it's easy that some do turn out wrong even still after so many years.
