NLCS Game 5: Madison 5, St. Louis 0
Adam Wainwright pitched seven scoreless inning and the Madison Muskies hit three home runs off St. Louis starting pitcher Aaron Nola in a 5-0 victory at Busch Stadium which won them the National League Championship Series in five games.
The 38-year-old Wainwright, was dominant allowing just five hits while striking out two and walking one.
Jose Ramirez and Justin Wilson combined to pitched a scoreless eighth inning. Juan Minaya handled the ninth, as the Muskies won the series' final two games to advance to the World Series, where they will face the American League Champion, the Columbus Golden Bears.
Madison got the only run it would ultimately need on the sixth pitch of the game, when Brandon Nimmo blasted a Nola pitch 365-feet into the left field seats for a solo home run.
It was light-hitting shortstop Alalberto Mondesi who did the job in the third with a solo blast to make it 2-0.
The Muskies pretty much put the game away with a three-run fifth.
Nimmo had an RBI single off Nola and Nomara Mazara made it 5-0 with a two-run shot.
