MBL World Series: Game 5 -- Columbus 10, Madison 3
The Columbus Golden Bears scored five runs over the first three innings to pave the way for a 10-3 win over the Madison Muskies and clinch the Midwest Baseball League World Series title with a Game 5 victory at Comiskey Park.
The Bears came out swinging against Madison starting pitcher Stephen Gonsalves. Bryce Harper had an RBI double in the first inning and Jordy Mercer drove in one with a single to give them a 2-0.
Gonsalves issued a bases-loaded walk to Paul Goldschmidt in the second inning, as the lead grew to 3-0.
A two-run double from Ozzie Albies in the third made it 5-0.
Goldschmidt finished the game with three RBIs.Harper, catcher Gary Sanchez and pitcher Jose Quintana all scored two runs.
On the mound, Quintana went 6.1 innings, allowing three runs on four hits. He struck out five and walked the same.
Lucas Sims finished the seventh inning. Archie Bradley tossed a spotless eighth and ninth to seal the championship.
Third baseman Michael Moustakas was named World Series MVP, after hitting .389 with three homers and six RBIs over the five games.
