1916 Top Players Under Age 30
Justin Zygmunt, RHP
2-time Pitcher of the Year, 2-time All-Star, and 1913 Rookie of the Year. He has dominated the league in almost every category and will look to continue it as his career progresses. He was a 7th round pick in 1908 out of Cape Fear in North Carolina.
Jeremy Thompson, RHP
Went to the all-star game in 1914, drafted in the 5th round of 1906 out of a New York high school. He was ranked as highly as the #26 prospect before sticking in the major leagues and has put up solid 3-4 WAR seasons 6 years in a row.
Jameson Worren, RHP
A 1st round pick by the Orioles in 1906 out of a New York high school. He is currently on the shelf due to a torn flexor tendon but prior to that had put up two straight seasons of over 5 WAR.
Lewis Brennan, SS
He has elite defense at SS but is spending much of his time at 1B instead because of the other defensive options on the Phillies. He's a 3-time gold glover and also a Rookie of the Year winner. Brennan was drafted in the 3rd round by the Giants out of North Carolina high school.
Tucker Holley, 2B
An elite defender with everything but a good arm. He was the 10th overall pick in 1911 from Washington. He's a silver slugger, all-star, NL championship MVP, and World Series winner.
Vladimiro Trejo, CF
Trejo is good but already fragile at 24 years old. He won the 1914 MVP, has been to one all-star game, and won 4 silver sluggers. Apart from his one MVP season, he has settled in as an above-average regular. He was a scouting discovery by the Marlins in 1908.
