I present a quartet of Blue Jays who've worn the number 33.

He came to us a broken down pitcher who the Yankees released a third of the way through the 1983 season because they thought he was done. Two and a half years later, he chucked a complete game 5-hitter (with neither a walk nor a strikeout) against those same New York Yankees to clinch the AL East for the Blue Jays, and send them to their first postseason berth in franchise history. As we rushed the field, he was carried off in triumph (Yes, I was there - I was also there three days later for the first postseason game in franchise history against the Kansas City Royals)...Doyle Alexander.

He hit the second most important HR in Blue Jays' history IMHO:

#1. Roberto Alomar's game tying 2-run shot off Eck in Game 4 of the 1992 ALCS.
#2. His pinch hit 2-run shot off Jeff Reardon in Game 2 of the 1992 World Series to wake up his teammates and help get them moving in the right direction again.
#3. The one you all thought would be #1 - Joe Carter's 1993 World Series winning 3-run HR off Mitch Williams.

Why do I have the first two ahead of Carter's? If those two don't get hit, the Blue Jays are not the defending World Series champions in 1993. Period...Ed Sprague Jr.

He was only here for a brief time, but man was he great, even at an advanced (for baseball) age. He's another criminally underrated player, and he'd easily be in my HoF because of his spectacular all around game. Also, look at the baserunner in this shot. Blue Jays fans are pinning all of their hopes on his progeny to kick start the next great generation of what we hope will be great Blue Jay teams...Scott Rolen (baserunner Vladimir Guerrero Sr).

A very late blooming southpaw, with a very elegant delivery...J.A. Happ.
