Walkers news: May 17 -- St. Louis 6, Cedar Rapids 5

Record: 21-15, 2nd, 3 GB Des Moines
Down 2-1, St. Louis scored twice in the fifth inning and three times in the eighth and then held on for a 6-5 win over Cedar Rapids at Shibe Park.
With the win, the River Walkers took the final two games of the three-game weekend series.
Jin-hwan Chung hit a solo homer off Golden Grapplers starting pitcher Masahiro Tanaka to open the top of the fifth and tie the game.
Adeiny Hechavarria later singled. A sacrifice bunt from pitcher Luis Gohara moved him to second and he gave St. Louis the lead when he scored when Ender Inciarte reached on an error by Cedar Rapids first baseman Dominic Smith.
The three runs St. Louis added in the eighth inning proved to be more than insurance.
The bulk of the damage was self-inflicted by the Grapplers, as bases-loaded walks issued by Tommy Kahnle to Nicky Delmonico, Chung and Tucker Barnhart scored all three of the runs.
A triple from Matt Duffy off Tony Gonsolin scored two, and drew the Grapplers within 8-7.
However, the Walkers kept Duffy from scoring and Phil Maton, who had recorded the third out of the eighth, pitched around a walk in the ninth to earn his first save of the season.
Gohara allowed two run on six hits over the first five innings and earned the win.
Four relievers -- Daniel Hudson (2.0), Gonsolin (0.1), Grant Dayton (0.1) and Maton (1.1) --combined to finish off the game.
