Radicalization
After 25 games, the Mothmen are 3 games under .500 so I radically changed them. I changed 4 guys in the starting lineup-- trying to add guys that get on base and not guys who hit home runs. I'll keep my eyes open as much as I can to changing them more. I want fast guys who are on base all the time. I don't feel I have enough players with both good contact and a good eye. We'll see if this batch can do better than the last one. I've got Pete Rose in the lineup now, playing outfield and DHing. I've got Victor Martinez catching because Ramos couldn't get a hit. I dropped Machado for Scott Brosius. Machado for me either hits good from the start of the season or not at all. SInce he was struggling, I'll try Brosius and if he fails, maybe Nettles. Also, I brought up Roy A. Thomas to DH against righties. Some seasons he can hit like Rod Carew. Speaking of whom, I have the 1B Carew training at 2B. He's a bad fielder there but I've got great guys at a number of positions and pour defensive efficiency so far is 2nd overall, so I'm willing to risk the first baseman version of Carew at 2nd. Hopefully he'll be good at it before next season. I like having him in the lineup, he can hit better than Ichiro-- he's like Ichiro with some walks thrown in when he's going good.
