1921 Top Players Under Age 30

Blaise Duarte, RHP

He was an international discovery out of the Dominican Republic in 1910 and by 1916 was the top pitching prospect. He has had some injuries to deal with but has been a solid #2 guy for 4-5 years when healthy.

Collin Abbot, SS

He was drafted in the supplemental 1st round back in 1911 out of high school and injuries have wrecked his career. In just parts of seasons, he has put up 3-4 WAR but didn't stay healthy to challenge for an MVP award. The past two seasons have seen him play a full slate of games but he has put up 3 WAR over that full time frame. He has been to two all-star games, won a gold glove, and was the 1919 NL Division Series MVP.

Joaquin De Los Santos, CF

He was a scouting discovery in 1912 out of the Dominican Republic and has made 4 all-star games in 1917, 1918, 1919, and 1920. He has had injuries nearly every year, taking away precious playing time, but has still managed to stay well above-average every year.

Josh Oakes, RF

Oakes was drafted 29th overall in 1914 out of Nebraska and has been a hit machine, leading the National League in hits three times. He has won three silver sluggers, been to one all-star game, and was on the Phillies World Series team in 1919.

Elliot Reed, CF

Reed was drafted 30th overall in 1912 out of Springfield HS in Oregon. He was the 1919 Silver Slugger in CF and has stayed healthy throughout his career so far.
