Has anyone done a successful historical expansion WITH own expansion whilie using only real players?

I want to start in the 60s, do real expansion and add my own expansion teams. I am not really concerned with dilution of talent
I would like each years imported players go their respective teams (i believe this is the issue)
I want this because i would like the actual teams to be a close as possible as seasons progress...ie i still wan the As and Red dynasties.

My expansion teams minor leagues get messed up as teams changed minor over the years.

Any quickstarts out there??
