Walkers news: Oct. 4 -- St. Louis 7 Kansas City 3
Record: 93-69, 3rd, 4 GB Des Moines
On the final game of the season, Rhys Hoskins had quite a ball game going 2 for 3 with two homers and seven RBIs as St. Louis defeated Kansas City 7-3 at Busch Stadium (1997).
With the win, the River Walkers swept a three-game series with the Pit Masters to finish the season 93-69, still landing them four games in back of first-place Des Moines in the National League West Division.
It was a game where the Walkers tried to use everyone on their roster, and they almost got it done.
Hoskins first homer, a three-run shot in the third inning off Pit Masters staring pitcher Chance Adams, put St.Louis up 3-1.
His grand slam an inning later off Rogelio Armenteros expanded that advantage to 7-1.
St. Louis used 10 pitchers in the game.
Manuel Soliman, who recorded the final two outs of the second inning and all of the third, earned the victory.
