Walkers news: May 21 -- St. Louis 9, Quad City 8

Record: 20-21, 3rd, 4.5 GB Springfield
St. Louis fell behind 7-0 only to rally for a 9-8 win over Quad City at Busch Stadium (1997).
The Thunder pounded River Walkers starting pitcher Luiz Gohara for seven runs over the first five innings to build its lead.
Justin Turner had a three-run double to highlight a three-run second inning and Derek Fisher and Miguel Gomez had RBI singles in a two-run fifth.
St. Louis used the long ball to chip away at the deficit.
Michael Conforto led off the bottom of the sixth with a solo homer off Quad City starting pitcher Matt Ruppenthal. Adeiny Hechavarria added a two-run shot later in the inning, making it 7-3.
In the seventh, Andrew Benintendi smacked a grand slam off reliever Jesse Hahn, and it was tied.
The Thunder, however, retook the lead in the top of the eighth on a Drew Robinson homer off Grant Dayton.

The Walkers responded right back, with two in the bottom half.
Christian Arroyo with a pinch-hit RBI double off J.D. Hammer.

Ender Inciarte then chased him him with the winning run by hitting a single.
Gohara was not good, lasting just four innings and allowing seven runs on seven hits.
But the bullpen was impressive allowing just that eighth inning run.
Bobby Poyner pitched the fifth inning. Jake Diekman handled the sixth and seventh.
Dayton pitched the eighth, allowing the Robinson solo homer.
Tommy Kahnle worked around a single in the ninth for his sixth save.
