St. Louis' Yu Darvish tossed just the fourth shutout of the 2021 Midwest Baseball League season when he led the River Walkers to a 2-0 win over Columbus at Busch Stadium (1997).
Neither team had a hit until the fifth inning when Joe Mundy led off with a home run off Golden Bears starting pitcher Francis Martes.
Columbus didn't get its first hit until the sixth when Jalmai Jones led off with a single.
The Golden Bears only other hit came in the seventh, again a lead-off hit, this one a double from Gary Sanchez.
Columbus had just there baserunners total, as pinch-hitter Robinson Cano drew a lead-off walk in the ninth.
However, Darvish got Ozzie Albies to hit into a double play and Gary Sanchez grounded out to end it.
The Walkers got their other run in the sixth after Albert Almora doubled with one out and scored on a Rhys Hoskins single.
Martes pitched six innings allowing two runs on four hits.
