Carlos Arroyo led off the bottom of the 11th inning with a home run off Jacob Rhame to give St. Louis a 3-2 win over Cedar Rapids at Busch Stadium (1997).
The River Walkers trailed 2-1 going into the bottom of the ninth inning until Rhys Hoskins hit a one-out homer off Golden Grapplers closer Danny Griggs to help force extra innings.
Both starting pitchers performed well.
St. Louis starter Aaron Nola allowed two runs on six hits over six innings. He struck out six and walked two.
The River Walkers used six relievers -- Bobby Poyner (1.1 IP), John Curtiss (0.2), Phil Maton (1.0), Jake Diekman (0.1), Reyes Moronta (0.2) and Omar Garcia (1.0) -- after Nola departed.
Garcia earned his second win of the season.
Cedar Rapids starter pitcher Carlos Martinez gave up one run in six innings. He allowed five hits while striking out five and walking none.
