Walkers news: Sept. 8 -- Chicago 5, St. Louis 1

Record: 72-67, 3rd (Tied/w. Des Moines and Springfield), 4.5 GB Cedar Rapids
Chicago's Shohei Ohtani allowed one run over the first five innings and five relievers shut out St. Louis over the final four innings as the G-Men won 5-1 at Busch Stadium (1997).
With the win, the G-Men took the final game of the three-game series after the River Walkers took the first two.

St. Louis sits in a three-way tie for third in the National League South Division with Springfield and Des Moines, 4.5 games in back of first-place Cedar Rapids.
Ohtani allowed the one run on three hits in his time on the mound. He struck out four and walked three.
Former River Walkers prospect Jabari Blash put the G-Men in front in the top of the third inning with an RBI single off Walkers starting pitcher Yu Darvish.
A two-run double from Brandon Crawford in the next inning made it 3-0.
Michael Conforto's RBI single off Ohtani in the bottom of the fourth made it 3-1.
Ryan Jeffers two-run double to greet reliever John Curtiss in the sixth made it 5-1.
Wade Davis and Jamie Callahan combined to handle the sixth inning for Chicago.
James Kaprielian, Will Smith and Stephen Woods all worked a scoreless inning apiece to close out the win.
