2074 Season (9/24 – 9/26)
San Diego Chargers (84-72, .538, 1st NL West) @ Phoenix Suns (78-78, .500, 3rd NL West)
Except for being swept by the lowly Philadelphia 76ers early in the month, San Diego has won every series they’ve played this month. They are 11-6 against us this season… So let’s just get this over with, shall we?
157 of 162: When Ash is on the mound, I always feel like we have a good shot to get a W… but – I should know better than to trust my gut. The San Diego Chargers knocked us off at home, 6-3. Starting pitcher Arnaldo Romero improved to 17-9 and only gave up 2 runs in the game. We’re no longer a .500 team. Elsewhere: San Francisco clinched a wild-card spot, and Vancouver is only 3 games away from stealing ours.
158 of 162: Jason Bland was boss - 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for us. Patrick Keith went 7 innings and 2 runs plated while he was on the mound (both unearned – shoddy defense is killing me)… Patrick left with an injury (DTD – Tender Elbow… TF?) and so did Reliever Jackson Krohn (DTD – Sore thumb. We are a .500 Ball Club again. Vancouver is still 3 back. Elsewhere: Dallas earned the last Wild Card spot in the AL – AL West Division Crown still up for grabs – LAG is 4 ˝ back from Seattle though, so it’s not really up for grabs.
159 of 162: Right-hander Cam Murphy earns his first Major League win – 7 innings and only 1 run plates… In the bottom of the fourth… knotted up… we get one across on an error that put us up 2-1, and we stayed up from there. We are above .500 again and get a series win against the top club in the NL West.
We got what we needed here… but Vancouver is only 3 games back as we head to their ballpark to close out the season… If they sweep us – we’re cooked – partially, we’d get another crack at them in a one-game play-in. We’re 12-5 against the Whitecaps this season – let’s hope we play like it.
