Palmer Parker – the man with two last names – earned Player of the Week honors in the National League. This requires a special note, I think, because he did a lot of his damage against the Lakers – we had him for 4 straight and wish we didn’t. For the week he hit .480 with 4 HR and 10 RBI – 2 of his homers and 6 of his RBIs came at our expense. Drafted 4th overall in 2073 out of East Carolina by the Panthers – Palmer finished 2nd in the 2074 Rookie of the Year vote with Carolina before they traded him to Philadelphia. Since joining the 76ers – Palmer has brought his leadership and world-class work ethic to the club and is well-respected by his peers – and it certainly doesn’t hurt that he has hit .314/.375/.500 with 10 HR and 33 RBIs since arriving in the city of Brotherly Love. Great addition by Philly and potentially the spark plug that gets them to the playoffs this year.
He's hit 3 walk-offs and 1 grand slam so far in his career. Not a bad start - he'll be one to watch for sure. Might have to take a flier out on this cat.
