Bruce Mercer, 2B
Mercer finds himself among the average Hall of Fame 2B, with similar career value to Tucker Holley and Anthony Taubman. He went to four all-star games, and won two gold gloves and silver sluggers. Mercer was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the Supplemental 1st round in 1942 out of Clemson. He only appeared on one prospect list at #43 before making his major league duebut and finished third in the Rookie of the Year voting. He eventually was traded to the Giants in 1952 and then signed with the Reds in 1953 where he finished his major league career. He did play one year with the Sugarland Skeeters in the Atlantic League but his talent was declining very quickly.
