I compared to Rose and not White as Rose would have to come out if I had bought Carbo since White is is trained up in CF (and in comparison I don't think Carbo is enough of an upgrade-if he is at all to spend a third of my PP on).
Am I missing something?

nope, that's basically it.... the overall rating doesn't always reflect the quality of the card, so you can get some underwhelming diamond rated cards and some diamond-in-the-rough bronze/silver/gold rated cards... just need to find the best ones to suit your style of play/park factors/etc....
