Thanks for the updates! I'm going to contact the Find-a-Grave submitter about the Bass image. I've never seen that one before.

The Cavanaugh image on Baseball-Reference comes from the Library of Congress Spalding Collection, and has been identified as a famous professional billiards player, not the ballplayer. The Doyle image comes on Baseball-Reference comes from the 1870 Rockford Forest Citys team composite photo. It is not the same Doyle who played a few games for the 1872 Nationals. I've been trying to get them to remove both of those images (along with several other mis-identified players).

While Bass and Cavanaugh died relatively young, Doyle lived a long life and was a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy following his baseball career, maybe via Ancestry there might be a military or passport photo of him?
