Kansas City scored a run in each of the first three innings to send the Pit Masters on the way to a 4-2 win over St. Louis as Kansas City Municipal Stadium (1967).
Greg Jones got things started quickly when he led off the bottom of the first with a homer off River Walkers starting pitcher Brendan Spagnuolo.
The River Walkers tied it in the top of the second after Michael Toglia led off with a homer off Pit Masters starting pitcher Max Fried.
But the lead was back in the hands of Kansas City in the bottom of the second, Yasmani Grandal doubling with one out and scoring on a Jones single.
The Pit Masters lead grew to 3-1 in the third, Joey Gallo with a one-out homer off Spagnuolo.
Byron Buxton singled to lead off the fifth for the Walkers and scored when Rhys Hoskins reached on an error by Gallo at third.
That was the end of the scoring for St. Louis.
Kansas City added an insurance run in the sixth, Jefry Marte with an RBI single off John Curtiss.
Marte's hit scored Yoyner Fajardo who had singled with two outs and later stole second base.
Kansas City starting pitcher Max Fried allowed two runs on six hits over 4.1 innings.
Tyson Miller finished the fifth inning and worked a scoreless sixth to earn his fourth win of the season.
Albert Hernandez (0.1 IP), Kyle Nelson (1.1), David Berg (0.1) and Zach Burdi (1.0) took care of the pitching duties the rest of the way.
The save was the 30th of the season for Burdi.
