Walkers news: April 7 -- St. Louis 8, Rockford 3, 11 innings

Record: 5-2, 2nd, 0.5 GB Des Moines
Andrew Benintendi hit a grand slam to highlight a six-run top of the 11th inning to help St. Louis down Rockford 8-3 at RFK Stadium.
The victory gave the River Walkers a three-game sweep of their series with the Lightning.
Benintendi's blast off Shawn Semple was the big blow of the 11th inning outburst, but it didn't give St. Louis the lead.
That honor belonged to Alek Thomas, whose single off Semple had scored Jean Carmona to snap a 2-2 tie.
Christian Arroyo later drew a bases-loaded walk to push the lead to 4-2.
Benintendi followed with his slam and widened the gap to 8-2.
Rockford's Dylan Cozens did hit a solo homer off reliever Thad Ward in the bottom of the 11th, but it did not really matter.
During regulation, a two-run homer from Rhys Hokins off Thunder reliever Seth Lugo in the top of the sixth put the Walkers ahead 2-1.
The Lightning tied it in the bottom of the frame.

Taylor Walls singled with two outs off St. Louis starter Argenis Batista and scored on a Andrew Noviello single.
Batistia worked six innings, allowing two runs on six hits. He struck out eight and walked three.
Four relievers -- John Curtiss (2.0 IP), Jake Brentz (1.2), Kenley Jansen (0.1) and Ward (1.0) -- handled the final five innings.
The win was Jansen's first of the season.
