Pitcher of the Year was Yarmouth-Dennis’ Aldo Ramirez. The Incarnate Word starter went 4-1 with a 0.92 ERA and 45 Ks. Ramirez’s teammate Zac Kent, who pitches Ohio State during the collegiate season, won Reliever of the Year. Kent went 4-0 with a 1.23 ERA and 30 Ks. Chatham’s Aaron Perry was named MVP, having gone 2-1 with a 1.48 ERA and 46 Ks. The decision was controversial, with many arguing that Ramirez should have won MVP.

MLB
The Mets won their first World Series title since their legendary 1986 win. They defeated the Tigers 4-2 in the Fall Classic. This marked the second straight season in which the runner-up from the year prior won the World Series.

Dylan Carson (Detroit- .278, 31 HR) won AL Rooke of the Year as part of the Tigers’ World Series run. Drew Ellis (Arizona- .273, 27 HR) collect the NL variant. Shohei Ohtani (Los Angeles- 15-7, 2.48 ERA, 245 Ks) broke out for a Cy Young winning season. Noah Syndergaard (New York- 17-10, 2.0 ERA, 240 Ks) continued the trend of the Mets winning the NL Cy Young. Thor’s win marked the third such instance since 2018. Mike Trout (Los Angeles- .268, 31 HR) retained the MVP trophy for the third year, taking his career total to five. This firmly puts him second in career MVP titles behind Barry Bonds, who earned the award seven times. In the NL, young phenom Juan Soto (Washington- .320, 37 HR) collected his first MVP title.

A number of big name players retired- Sean Doolittle, Evan Longoria, Jed Lowrie, Chase Headley, Martin Prado, Yoenis Cespedes, Dioner Navarro, Max Scherzer, Adam Jones, Tony Barnette, Nick Markakis, Pedro Strop
And few more found themselves in a different uniform:
Via trade:
-German Marquez is now a White Sock
-Luke Voit is an Astro
-Dallas Keuchel is a Dodger (signed with the Giants in 2019)

Free agency:
-Nolan Arenado is a Yankee
-Andrew McCutchen is a Giant
