Walkers news: Hoskins to 10-day IL; Changes made in dugout

At 19-25, off to the worst start in the seven-year of the franchise the St. Louis River Walkers have decided to make a pair of changes in the dugout.
First, Clint Hurdle stepped down as bench coach.
Hired just a few weeks ago replacing Gary Thurman, Hurdle decided at age 67 he no longer wants to be part of the major league grind.
He is being replaced by Alex Cora, who from 2018 through 2021 was manager of the Cincinnati Skyline.
Also let go was hitting coach Jung-Tang Kung.
Kung had joined the Walkers during the 2022 season and actually saw a marked improvement in the offense during the 2023 season.
But the team has fallen back dramitically in 2024 ranking at or near the bottom of the National League in most offensive statistics, including runs scored (145/12th), batting average (.229/12th) and home runs (25/12th).

He is being replaced by 52-year old Shane Andrew who will be working in the majors for the first time.
The River Walkers also announced that first baseman Rhys Hoskins has been placed on the 10-day injured list with hip soreness.
The 31-year-old Hoskins has struggled mightily at the plate in 2024, batting just .204 with three homers and 11 RBIs in 43 games.
He will be replaced by 24-year-old third base prospect Tanner Kohlhepp.
Kohlhepp was batted .253 with nine homers and 30 RBIs in 37 games for AAA Memphis this season.
