That's a good point. Girardi left town in part because he wasn't toeing the line that Cashman and his eggheads had drawn. Showalter has been around forever and he's not going to take "****" either.
I wonder if the source that I read knew what he was talking about; i.e., BVW and Wilpons wanting a highly experienced manager. Maybe the Wilpons but I would think BVW, being inexperienced and shaky himself, would want somebody with even less experience than him.
Who knows? We'll find out soon.
