Walkers news: June 5 -- St. Louis 5, Springfield 4, 10 innings
Record: 26-33, 5th, 7 GB, Des Moines
Christian Arroyo's bases-loaded single with the bases-loaded off Jake Diekman scored Michael Toglia to give St. Louis a 5-4 win in 10 innings over Springfield at Busch Stadium (1997).
The River Walkers had loaded the bases against Gerson Moreno with two walks and a hit batsman.
Diekman came on and got Alek Thomas to fly out.
Arroyo, however, drove the second pitch he saw between the shortop and third base to bring in Toglia, who had walked to open the inning.
St. Louis rallied from a 4-1 deficit, as the Prairie Fighters got two solo homers from Odubel Herrera and one from Nate Traylor off Walkers starter Aaron Nola.
An RBI double from Jean Carmona in the fifth off Springfield starter Danny Duffy sliced the deficit to 4-2.
The Walkers tied it in the eighth on a two-run double from Romy Gonzalez off reliever Thomas Szapucki.
Nola lasted six innings, allowing four runs on seven hits.
Caleb Ferguson handled a pair of scoreles innings.
Phil Maton got the first two outs of the ninth, before giving way to Jake Brentz (2-4) who finished it off and for it earned his second win.
