My assistant, Megan, is leaving the fold – it seems that the San Marcos Supremos have made her an offer to take over GM duties effective immediately on a 5-year, $980K per contract… There are a few things to parse out here… 1. She’s ready, that much is true, but I was grooming her to take over GM duties here in LA as I planned on making a play to become the President of Baseball Operations at the end of the 2077 campaign, 2. She’s leaving me in a bit of a lurch here as I have had no time to even contemplate who I should hire as a replacement – though she tells me that a friend of her, who is going to art school for dance, would be a good fit, and 3. I don’t know any of the passwords to my cable, power, stock, etc accounts and, honestly, can’t remember how to adult as she has taken care of all of that for me over the last few years in LA… Basically, I’m happy for her – it’s a dream opportunity to be sure – but, I’m also scared ****less… I’ll have to keep my eye on her progress as a 1st time GM – who knows, maybe I can bring her back into the fold one day.
LF Aitor Cubas, of the Seattle Sounders, and a guy that I don’t talk about enough (he’s that rarest of animal – an international signee who actually delivers on his potential), has taken over the HR lead in the MLB – he’s currently hitting .271/.433/.536 with 30 HRs, 73 RBI, and 86 runs… his 5.4 WAR puts him in 4th in that category behind Ray Gerhold (PHX, 5.9 WAR), Heathcote Kinton (LAG, 5.7 WAR), and Roan Munoz (BRK, 5.4 WAR)… Cubas was discovered out of Santa Domingo, DR by the Sounders Scouting Staff in 2069 and is in the last year of his $13.5M contract – listen, I love this guy, but I am under no illusion that we will be able to get him if we lose Otto… I’ll give it a go, sure, but I’m not looking to break the bank for any single player, so the chances are slim. And, besides – OTTO leads the leagues in SAC FLIES so he, obviously, will be my #1 priority.
