Walkers news: July 2 -- St. Louis 7, Des Moines 2

Aaron Nola allowed two runs over seven innings and Rhys Hoskins broke the game open with a grand slam as St. Louis downed Des Moines 7-2 at LaBatt Park.
Tied 2-2, the River Walkers took the lead for good in the top of the third when Tanner Kohlhepp reached on a two-out error pitcher Nick Pivetta, Kohlhepp winding up at second.
He scored when Michael Toglia followed with a single.
Kohlhepp was injured on the play at the plate and could miss up to six weeks with a fractured finger.
St. Louis took complete control in the seventh, when a single and a pair of walks loaded the bases for Hoskins who drilled a Yelin Rodriguez pitch 375 feet over the right-field fence for a grand slam.
Nola (3-7) allowed two runs on eight hits in his seven innings. He struck out three and walked none.
Sean Doolittle (0.2 IP) and Phil Maton (0.1) combined to work the eighth inning.
Kenley Jansen pitched around a walk in an uneventful ninth.
