Walkers news: August 22 -- St. Louis 9, Cedar Rapids 1

Record: 66-62, 3rd, 4.5 GB Quad City
St. Louis exploded for nine runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and that was easily enough to carry it to a 9-1 win over Cedar Rapids at Busch Stadium (1997).
The victory was the ninth in a row for the River Walkers, and completed a three-game sweep of the Golden Grapplers.
The River Walkers big sixth inning featured seven hits and two walks.
Six of the hits were singles, while the big blast was a three-run home run from Jean Carmona which actually ended the scoring.
RBI singles were contributed by Bo Bichette, pitcher Steven Brault, both off Golden Grapplers starter Jake Woodford,
Reliever Leonardo A. Rodriguez issued a bases-loaded walks to Nick Poirier and Nick Hoskins.
Alek Thomas drove in a run onj a ground out.
Andrew Benintendi had a two-run single to make it 6-1.
On the mound, Brault worked seven innings, allowing one run on four hits.
With the game in hand at 9-1, Caleb Ferguson and John Curtiss worked a scoreless inning apiece to close it out.
