Argenis Batista recorded 26 of 27 outs before running out of gas and Michael Toglia hit two home runs as St. Louis rolled past Quad City 9-0 at Busch Stadium (1997).
The win game the River Walkers in the final two game of their three-game series with the Thunder.
Toglia put St. Louis up 2-0 in the bottom of the third with a two-run homer off Q-C starter Brent Honeywell.
That advantage grew to 5-0 in the fifth inning, Toglia started it with a one-out solo shot off Honeywell.
Tanner Kohlhepp took care of the other two with a two-out single.
The Walkers made it ugly with a four-run eighth.
All of the runs came with two outs, Batista plating the first two with a double.
Toglia plated the other two with a double, giving him five RBIs for the game
Batista worked into the ninth inning, but exited after Randolph Thorne smacked his 123rd hit for a double to put runners at second and third with one out.
Phil Maton came on to get Thomas Dillard to ground out to end it.
Batista (9-8) ended up allowed no runs on seven hits. He struck out seven and walked none.
